The Olís service station shop in Dalvík will close on 1 November. It is the last such 'kiosk' in the town, and residents are distraught at the closure. It is also the last place in Dalvík where people can buy a hot dog. “A blow to the town” The kiosk was fairly busy when RÚV visited. It matters to people in Dalvík. What do you think about the fact that people will no longer be able to stop here and buy a snack? “It’s just absolutely terrible, really. This is the only kiosk in the town. It could be better,” says Júlíus Viðarsson, an Olís customer. Many residents of Dalvík were shocked when the pizza restaurant Tomman closed in August after 27 years in business. There will therefore be no kiosks left in Dalvík. “It’s very sad. A blow to the town. After all, we’re the only kiosk open until nine,” says Þóra María Fransdóttir, an Olís employee. What does this mean for the staff? We’ll obviously have to start looking for new jobs. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet. Olís reported in June of 2025 that it had converted the pumps at its service station in Dalvík to their ÓB self-service brand. Fuel service from these will continue, alongside the town's self-service N1 station.
